An interesting photo. P-47D 42-75151 was known to have been MX-L with the 82nd Fighter Squadron at one time and transferred to HQ 1st Combat Wing where the codes were retained. It is possible that this photo was taken after the transfer took place as it was known to have been stationed with the 91st BG at Bassingbourn. It must be acknowledged though that the tiny area of the squadron code letters visible through the dropped flaps look more likely to be HL of the 83rd. Hopefully the fullness of time will resolve this one!
