Lt. Noble E Peterson. 358th Fighter Squadron. P-51D 44-14711 YF-M "Dakota Kid II / Long Island Kid". Named due to Peterson being a native of N. Dakota. His crew chief came from Long Island.

Profile by Nick King

NOTE FOR MODELLERS: This a/c was fitted with three rear-view mirrors, one on the sliding canopy and two Spitfire mirrors on the front windshield. The two Spitfire mirrors were angled inwards so that the left one covered the right tail and vice versa. This was a very common set-up in the 355th where two or more mirrors were fitted. Note that the drop tanks are the pressed steel type and not the more usual paper ones of this design.
