Lt. William R Preddy, Greensboro NC, 503rd Fighter Squadron. P-51K 44-11623 D7-A "Rusty". This a/c was reassigned to Lt. Preddy from Capt. French and he retained the nickname. Lt. Preddy was shot down whilst flying it on 17 April 1945 and died of his injuries the following day having been refused proper medical treatment by the German doctors at an emergency medical centre.
