Littlefriends.co.uk P-38J Lightning 42-67450 [LC] “E” of 77th Fighter Squadron. One of the P-38s modified to carry a bomb aimer and act as lead ship on bombing missions. The nose section of the so-called “Droop Snoot” Lightnings was modified and slightly widened to accommodate the additional crew member, giving a slightly bulged appearance when viewed from the front and thereby giving rise to the name.
